The Makeup Products That Make You Look Instantly More Awake

There are certain mornings when sleep was not enough, coffee has not kicked in, and your face is telling the whole story. This is where the right makeup can do a lot of heavy lifting.
Looking more awake does not require a full glam routine. It usually comes down to brightening, lifting, and adding color back into the face.
The first product I reach for is a brightening concealer. Not a thick, cakey one — just something lightweight that reflects light and softens darkness under the eyes. Apply it only where you need it, usually the inner corner and the shadowed area under the eye, then blend well.
Next is blush. Blush is the product that can take you from tired to healthy in seconds. Cream blush gives the most natural, skin-like finish. Apply it slightly higher on the cheeks to create a lifted effect. Soft pink, peach, and rose tones are usually the easiest everyday shades.
A lash curler and mascara also make a big difference. Curled lashes open up the eyes instantly. Even if you wear very little makeup, mascara can make you look more alert and polished.
For the waterline, a nude or soft champagne liner can brighten the eyes without looking harsh. This is especially helpful if your eyes look red or tired.
Highlighter should be subtle. A little glow on the high points of the cheeks, inner corners of the eyes, or brow bone can add brightness. The key is looking fresh, not glittery.
And finally, lips. A bit of color on the lips balances the face. A tinted balm, gloss, or soft pinky-nude lipstick can make you look more put together immediately.
When you are tired, the goal is not to hide everything. It is to redirect the eye: brighten the under-eyes, lift the cheeks, open the lashes, and add healthy color.
